David Ryle is an internationally renowned photographer & director living in the UK. His work is a blend of emotional resonance and technicality, creating images that are a synthesis of light and colour. His atmospheric environments become cinematic impressions. Within his work he explores the notion of space and human relationship with our surroundings. Often his works are journeys of people & places, he has explored ideas relating to borders, extreme sports (ski jumps, free divers, stunt people) and space tourism. David has spoken at D&AD Adland's creative leaders for Best in Book at Creative Review, AOP & TBWA. Over the years his work has won numerous awards and has been selected for: AOP Gold, Best in Show at Creative Review Photography Annual & IPAs as well as having work displayed at the Royal Academy.

"I grew up in an area called The Fens, on the outskirts of a small village in Lincolnshire. My family home was flanked on three side by large open fields that often grew corn in the summer. On the other side was a river, and grazing land for rescue horses. In the summer the landscape was full of colour, in the winter it was bleak and often grey. Throughout the year the horizon remained distant beneath an expanse of sky, reminiscent of a Dutch landscape painting. This openness has influenced how I photograph, it has helped me stand back and recognise the role of space in my pictures."

His style has enabled him to shoot numerous editorial and advertising campaigns for clients around the world such as: Grey London, JWT, Cinco Portland, Arnold Worldwide, Area 23, RP&, Saatchi & Saatchi and AMV BBDO. He has created films & idents for Nike with Port Magazine, Liz Earle with Ogilvy, 4Creative and Audi with BBH Black Sheep.

His personal photography and short films have been featured on various sites including:
